The Dome
The Saddledome
Opened in 1983, the Scotiabank Saddledome was built as part of Calgary’s push toward the 1988 Winter Olympics and has since become one of the most recognizable arenas in hockey. With a seating capacity of just under 20,000, its iconic saddle-shaped roof has seen decades of games, playoff runs, concerts, and championship moments.
Generations of Calgarians have walked through those doors. First games, playoff nights, nights out, and traditions passed down over time. It’s one of those places that means something different to everyone, but still feels the same.
With a new arena on the horizon, the Saddledome is starting to feel like more than just a venue—it’s a piece of the city. The place where it all happened, and where a lot of it still does.
